Reflection activity
🤔 CONSIDER:
The features of social media discussed in the previous article show how social media prioritizes profit for tech companies over being sensitive to the intricacies of our brains or the potential impacts on our mental health.
Keeping in mind what you’ve learned about cognitive biases, what would be different about social media if it was designed to respect our brains’ vulnerabilities?

- There would be a lot of different things about social media if it was designed to respect our brain's vulnerabilities. There would be a lot less notifications on your device and when you do get them it would probably only be about urgent things about the app not about some new post. There wouldn't be this endless scrolling that makes you just want more it probably wouldn't even be a feature at all. Social media wouldn't be collecting any data from you after you sign up. If social media was designed to respect our brains vulnerabilities it would be more of a novelty a place where you can post something from time to time rather than an app that you use everyday just to mindlessly scroll away to waste time.(2 votes)
- If social media was designed to respect our brains' vulnerabilities, it would limit the amount of content you could see in a day so you don't end up endlessly scrolling. It also wouldn't have an algorithm that studies and collects data from you and uses it to recommend videos it thinks you will stay on the website for. It could also put less focus on comparing people's looks as well as videos showing everything wrong with the world and why everything sucks.(2 votes)
